My Magpie and I went blackberry picking today. As we negotiated thorns & stinging nettle, thistles & insects, I got to thinking about how what we were doing was a metaphor for life:
We went out to look for something sweet & nourishing – something that would make us feel good & fill us with joy. The process of getting to it wasn’t easy – we got stung & pricked & dirty. We hollered & yelped. We revised our strategies. We used the tools we had, and improvised a few along the way. We joked about paying our dues… The point is – although it was challenging & messy & painful – we didn’t give up. And as we sit back tonight, popping fresh picked blackberries into our mouths & my Magpie plans her baking & jams – LIFE IS SWEET.
Cheers,
Teron.
