hangry
1. hungry and angry;
2. the irrational emotional state that occurs when one has waited too long to eat;
Example: “I’m sorry I flipped out when you glanced at that tree, I think I’m just hangry.”
During a sound healing circle in 2005, my friend Yves, said the word “angry”. Because of his accent, the word came out “hangry”. In that moment, my Magpie and I decided that this was the perfect word to describe the phenomenon that occurred whenever one of us waited too long to eat. Ever since, whenever one of us is getting our grump on, the first thing we do is check in to make sure we’re not just hangry! Our friends LOVE this word, so I thought I’d share it with all of you…
Cheers,
Teron.
