5 Powerful Acts of Self-Love

“Every time someone is cruel to you, do something kind for yourself. This is how you reinforce your worth when others refuse to acknowledge it. This is an incredibly powerful act of self-love.” -Kalen Dion

When I was younger, I used to call my own phone and leave messages, telling myself how valuable and loveable I was. I’d send myself flowers, leave myself love-notes, write messages to myself on the bathroom mirror, hide little presents for myself in places I’d forget about until I stumbled upon them…

I was so damned lonely, but determined to never abandon myself to being alone.

I became my own advocate, greatest love, and best friend.

These acts of self-love, compassion and care became the pillars I built my self-concept on, and while I wouldn’t wish that kind of loneliness on anyone,

I am forever grateful to have developed such a rock-solid relationship with my own heart.
